18k is 75% gold, 14k is 58%. So 18k is warmer in colour and softer; 14k takes daily knocks better. For a ring you never take off, 14k is the smarter metal. For earrings and pendants, 18k.
Not at the sizes we sell. Above VS2 the inclusions are invisible without a loupe, so you are paying for a line on a certificate. We buy VS1 to VS2 and spend the difference on cut, which is the part you can actually see.
